Starting in July of 2011, 78 elementary and middle school teachers from throughout the Independence School District came together and spent a week focusing on writing in their practice. Along with four teacher-consultants from the Greater Kansas City Writing Project, this dedicated group spent hours each day writing about teaching, learning about writing, and discussing learning in new contexts.
